Men in Gray

Sixteen years old today
Standing tall all dressed in gray
“Mama” I best be on my way
Were they last words, she would here him say

So many fought, so many fell
Endured the pain, that bloody hell
For what was right, that land they knew
Was only theirs, if they saw it through

Mr. Lincoln, how could you, state your claim
And swear it true
The color of man fit your plan
When all else failed for you

Great Great Grandpa, so young you died
All dressed in gray, so full of pride
That flag you carried cross-hallowed ground
You held so high, as they shot you down

So many fought, so many fell
Endured the pain, that bloody hell
For what was right, that land they knew
Was only theirs if they saw it through

Now they want it down they say
It stands for hate, the truth they sway
It is For Honor of Our Dead in Gray!
